  1. I thought that members of this organization would be interested in an upcoming event, The Water Works Conservancy, Inc, an historic preservation organization is sponsoring a TITANIC EVENT: An Elegant Historic Dinner Dance at the historic Hiram Blauvelt Mansion, built in 1896 and considered a prime example of Great Houses in NJ, Saturday, April 20, 7:30 PM – 11 PM, with a 7-Course menu based on the 1st Class Dining Menu on April 14, 2012, beginning with champagne punch; a band playing music from the White Star Line Song Book, foxtrots, waltzes, etc, and a dance instructor who will teach the waltzes and foxtrot to those interested and more. I have a brochure that is pre-disaster, April 14, 1912, lauding the great ship, the Titanic. It was in the possession of my late aunt and when the family was going through her things, we came across it. We would like to know the value of this advertising brochure and sell it to a collector or someone who is a Titanic enthusiast.

Hello, my name is Luke Ferrante. I used to receive journals from T.I.S. From age 12 to 20 or so, but one day the journals stopped coming with no explanation. My father and I assumed T.I.S. dissipated so we we actually didn’t look into it. But now I find out about the convention April 27-28 and looks like something I would really be interested in but if I read correctly I missed chance to buy tickets on April fifth. Is this true? And if it isn’t can I bring a guest?

    • Hi Luke! Oh I remember you well! Time flies- I think you may have been about 10 when I met you. Yes, the hotel block of rooms expired on April 5th but if you wish to attend any of the functions, please email Robert Bracken at Robertbrac@aol.com Since we have bus and boat tours, we have to consider numbers but I know another bus was just added on. Hope to see you/Shelley

Hi! I came to this website in doing research on an ancestor who survived the Titanic’s sinking, Ellen Mockler. I was pleasantly surprised and extremely pleased to see Shelley Dziedic’s 2004 article on her! I’d first like to extend my thanks and compliments to Shelley for an extremely well-written, informative and entertaining piece, and next to request her help.

In the article, you mentioned by name the two sisters that paid her fare to America that she then went to live and work with. I have not had any luck running them down on my own, anyone who might have had first-hand knowlege in my family is sadly no longer with us, and I was wondering if Shelley had come across any information in her research that may not have pertained to the article but might be useful from my perspective. I know that it’s a long shot, as you wrote the article so long ago, but right now it’s my best lead. Thank you for this wonderful site and for all of your hard work keeping the memory of Titanic alive.

  5. I have an original edition of the London newspaper, Daily Mirror, Tuesday April 16th 1912 saying everyone survived!
“Titanic’s wireless signal brings vessels to scene.” “Everyone Safe”
“Morning of Suspense ends in message of relief”
Amazing piece of History!!!!! Great photographs! Excellent condition
I was wondering if you know anyone who’d like to buy it? My phone is 973-495-8551. My email is ava42@aol.com. Thanks

  6. I am an amateur artist and relative of a survivor of the disaster, George William Beauchamp. To commemorate the centinary I have produced limited edition prints of my painting of the ship entitled ‘Eve of Departure.’ It depicts Titanic at night at the White Star dock in Southampton. If anybody would like to view my work please browse my website as below.
    Many thanks

I’m searching for a copy of the book”I’m going to see what has happened” by Gerald Nummi. I have had no luck finding it and would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me locate one. I’m looking to add to my family history collection and this book would mean a lot to me. Thank You!

If you would email me at whitley401@aol.com, and send me your email address I will see if the author can get a copy made for you, and how much that would cost.

We remember with thankfulness the honor you paid to my great grandfather, John Starr March when you placed a special marker at his grave in Hillside NJ in 1993.
Also his commemoration at the US Postal Museum at your exhibit of the postal workers who gave their lives on the Titanic protecting the mail. You have his watch already that stopped at 1:15 on that early morning when he drowned. I have found the engagement ring he gave his wife, Nellie Eliza Harding. It is 22K pink gold with 9 small pearls set in a diamond shape. It is engraved with his initials and hers, and the date. We were wondering what it is worth. His signet ring has been given to my cousin Joan Drake’s son, Robert Drake. We’d be interested in hearing from you about this, and we’re interested also in the convention in Boston.
We may not be able to attend, but our hearts will be there.
    Thanks,
    Florence McCabe

I have in my possession an official edition, copyright 1912 by L.H.Walter book: Sinking of the Titanic, the World’s Greatest Sea Disaster. The book is in fair shape but would like to get an idea as to the value. It belonged to my grandparents. I am reading it for the first time and it is fascinating.

  10. It hardly seems possible that TIS has just celebrated it’s 20th birthday! It was only yesterday that Charlie, Jack, Bob D, Shelly, Bob B and I got togeher to form an alternative Titanic Society – one where our members were in charge and helped to chart our course. So many wonderful things have happened to us all over these past twenty years – many conventions, cruises, gatherings and 69 issues of Voyage! Where did the time go…? I was very honored to be a co-founder and trustee for many happy years. I now write a quarterly column for Voyage and hope that we all may enjoy twenty more years of TIS activities! God Bless…
